I left Atlanta at 8AM. I am now writing this from Springfield, Illinois, home of a super creepy Super 8 Motel. I was going to camp at a KOA, but I got so far away from the highway looking for it that I got spooked. Besides, I am loving the air conditioning right now.
St. Louis Arch:
Eero Saarinen, a Finnish American architect, won a national design competition in 1947 for the arch. The arch was built between 1963 and 1965. Saarinen died in 1961. It has a stainless steel outer shell and stands 630 feet high.
I took the little space pod tram to the top today and took these pictures:
That's it for today. I'm beat. But it's an early morning tomorrow for a continental breakfast (Super 8 style) and then on to the Miller Brewing Company tour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!

Great pictures....you should to take a few pictures of the places you stay and the people you see too!

Good job with the unusual perspective of the arch. Seeing it from far away is SO 1976.
Oh No!!! The Super 8 Motel. You have already broken my sanitation code. Great pictures. Keep them coming. Very interesting. Take care and be careful. Oh yea, and besure to request clean sheets. Don't let the bedbugs bite. Seriously, don't let the bedbugs bite.
Love, Mom
Apparently Springfield, Illinois is home to some very bad motels. My only experience with that town was on a family trip years ago, and we stayed at the "Abe Lincoln Motel", a horseshoe shaped, one-story type place. The pool in the middle of the parking lot was a brown, murky mixture, with tires in it. I kid you not. We got in the room, beds weren't made....had to request a foldout for my little brother, and upon opening the foldout, it had empty liquor bottles in it. Wish I had taken a picture of my mom's face.
Also, I remember that we ate lunch at a nearby restaurant called "Whitey's Barbecue"....don't recommend it. Seriously.
